Project description

Inspired by L’Occitane’s natural and sensuous identity rooted in the Provence lifestyle, this hotel redesign aims to evoke a sense of place and tranquility. The project offers a restorative experience for guests seeking relief from the demands of daily life.

This journey aims to awaken the little senses that have been hard to feel in tired bodies and minds, numbed by daily life. Here, special experiences within the hotel stimulate the five senses, allowing guests to rediscover small pleasures. After time spent recharging, and restoring inner rejuvenation, the ambiance of the hotel, and Santa Monica, with restore guests.  Memories of time spent will keep you fortified in days to come.

DESIGN strategies

This journey commences by valuing nature and embracing authenticity. It showcases the freshness and sensuality that nature evokes through genuine materials and processes. Authenticity in nature goes beyond external beauty; it fosters inner vitality and self-discovery. (Among the keywords, 'golden' symbolizes the ripeness of nature's bounty.)

site analysis

As Santa Monica is the one of the most visited place where visitors tend to come on holiday to get relax, this place was chosen. And also, Santa Monica seems related well to the concept of the Hotel Loccitane project.   

material & color strategies

The materials evoke the sun-drenched warmth and delicate sensuality of a Provençal summer, infusing the space with a timeless, natural elegance.

facade

The perforated metal gave a cleaner, lighter feel.... in keeping with the brand.

entrance

As you approach the entry wall, you’re greeted by the soothing aroma of lavender, its fragrance permeating the air. This tranquil sensory experience leads you to the check-in area, where a warm welcome awaits.

LOBBY & LOUNGE

Large, hanging fixtures, inspired by wind chimes. hang from the Lobby ceiling.  This structure divides space and stimulates the senses of sight and touch.

LOUNGE

Lavender bar

Signature daytime lavender and herb teas, and evening cocktails are flavored with lavender which stimulates your senses of smell, and the hanging fresh herb activates sight and smell.

pool

The indoor pool gives the illusion of swimming outside, but a transparent glass ceiling encloses the area. The wall facing the road is made of perforated metal, so while offering privacy, it allows sun to shine in all day long.    

Guest room

Organic-shaped walls and ceiling provide a comfortable, relaxed mood in the living area. Hanging plants intertwine with metal fixtures. Light streams through the perforated facade.

bed room

Partitions separate the bed from the main entrance to the guest room. Light coming in through the facade warms the room in the morning.

bathtub area

You can feel the sense of Santa Monica from the window during the time of bathtub. The window of perforated metal panels gives you sense of sight.

bathroom

Bathroom fixtures continue the theme of the rustic elegance of Provence.
